Begin Their New Lives
With Joy and Blessing
Text Box: Almost four years ago, following the destruction of the communities of Gush Katif, out of sadness and despair came the voice of joy and gladness, the voice of the bride and groom. Yes, girls from Gush Katif were beginning new lives as kallot.

Unfortunately, since they had no homes and no employment, their parents were unable to provide for the young couples as they would have done if times were “normal.”

B”H, enter Am Yisrael.

The community of Bet Shemesh decided to make an evening of Hachnasas Kallah for Gush Katif brides. The evening was a tremendous success. Women from all over Bet Shemesh and Ramat Bet Shemesh celebrated for the brides, and showered them with practical gifts to begin their new lives.

The Bet Shemesh Bridal Shower was followed by one in Efrat. The happiness over their ability to do something positive for the people of Gush Katif led the women of Efrat to encourage their friends to also participate. The Committee for Gush Katif Bridal Showers began as an natural outpouring of love and support for our brethren, who had suffered so terribly with the destruction of their communities and the upheaval of their families. Showers followed in Neve Daniel, Har Nof, Bet El, Raanana, Rehovot, Katamon, Ramot and more.

Brides from every community of Gush Katif evacuees were adopted by women from all over Israel. In fact, friends from outside of Israel participated as well, purchasing gifts on line.

B”H, we have shown that every Jew truly is responsible for one another, and every Jew cares for one another.

The goal of our Committee for Gush Katif Bridal Showers is to connect Jews to one another by finding communities to sponsor evenings of Hachnasas Kallah for Gush Katif brides, and making sure that each Gush Katif bride is honored with a bridal shower, just like brides everywhere.

Just as we supported the Jews of Gush Katif in their time of trouble, so shall we support them in their times of joy. We are filled with optimism that despite their difficulties, the young couples of Gush Katif are rebuilding their lives and preparing to go forward and build batei neeman b’yisrael.

We thank you for your participation and interest in our bridal showers, and in helping our brethren.

Tizku lemitzvot.
